WHERE TO LIVE IN ENGLAND

As a student, you must decide what sort of accommodation suits your particular needs. You have a number of options:

 1.University Hall of Residence

Usually close to the campus. In most cases you will have your own room, but share kitchen, bathroom, lounge with up to five other students. Meals are available in the University café at additional cost.

Most halls of residence will provide laundry facilities, internet access, common room – and may provide gym, shop and bar.

  1. Shared House

 

A very popular way for students to live in England, sharing a house between four or five. One room each, shared kitchen, bathroom, lounge. Usually close to the town/city centre and to the university.

Range: GBP55-75                                        Average: GBP55-65

  1. Lodgings

Rent a room in a private house. Some/all meals provided. Laundry/room cleaning may also be available (sometimes at extra cost). Live as part of a family.

  1. UNITE

UNITE is one of the largest suppliers of student accommodation in England and offers the best quality at a competitive price. Available in Birmingham, Coventry, Huddersfield, Sheffield. Most of the UNITE sites offer the following facilities:

  1. Good locations in the centre of the town/city and close to the university,
  2. Modern buildings with new fittings,
  3. Internet included in the rent – and each bedroom has its own connection ready to go. Selected television channels available through the Internet on your computer – all free!
  4. All bedrooms en-suite. Choice of rooms, depending on your requirements,
  5. Kitchens are shared and are provided with kettle, toaster, microwave, refrigerator etc,
  6. On-site maintenance provided. Rent includes gas, electricity, fixtures and fittings, Internet access etc,
  7. Secure sites mean you are always safe and comfortable,
  8. Leisure activities organised by UNITE staff.
  9. Prices start from GBP83.00 per week.
